Ministry of Business, Self-Employment and Energy
The session of the Inter-Island Advisory Commission on Commerce, held on October 3, 2025, at the Ministry of Business, Self-Employment and Energy, unanimously approved the calendar for commercial openings on public holidays and Sundays for the year 2026
The meeting was attended by the Director General of Business, Self-Employment and Commerce, Pedrona Seguí, along with representatives from the island councils of the Balearic Islands, trade unions, and business associations in the sector.
The approved opening calendar includes the following dates:
- January 4, Sunday before Epiphany
- January 18, Sunday
- March 8, Sunday
- April 2, Maundy Thursday
- August 15, public holiday on Saturday, Assumption Day
- September 6, Sunday before the start of the school year
- November 29, Sunday after Black Friday
- December 6, Constitution Day
- December 20, Sunday
- December 26, public holiday on Saturday, Second Christmas Day
During the meeting, it was also agreed that August 15 and September 6 may be substituted by the municipalities.
